Lars Ulrich On The Irony Of Jason Newsted's Metallica Departure
Sir Elton John reveals he's working with Metallica
Metallica 's well-documented turn-of-the-century shake-up was the most critical period in the band's history. Even Cliff Burton 's death 15 years earlier didn't put the band's future in as much jeopardy as Jason Newsted 's departure. By the time Newsted was ready to move on, Metallica had scaled the summit of the rock world commercially but was mired in a creative valley. While Newsted was buzzing with excitement over his new band, EchoBrain which he'd left Metallica to pursue , his former bandmates — namely James Hetfield — weren't sure how to move on or if they wanted to. That is kind of ironic. It's also a little sad, because Jason's a good guy and he put a lot of effort into the band for many years, and in retrospect he was never really fully accepted into the band.
Lars Ulrich Reveals The Metallica Song He Never Wants To Hear Again
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich , who has made no secret of his liberal views, was asked in a brand new interview with Vulture if he ever discusses politics with frontman James Hetfield , who has described himself as being somewhat conservative politically. Never happened. Asked if it doesn't seem weird to work with someone for 35 years and never talk about politics, Lars said: "The thing you've got to understand is that METALLICA is made up of four people from four different places who took four very different paths to where we are now. The one thing that unites us is the love of the music that we're playing and that all four of us felt like outsiders trying to figure out who the hell we were.
I hear he is gay and the reason Mustain left the band was because Lars is a spoiled rich kid who was the money behind Metallica. Lars wanted his then boyfriend Kirk to be the guitar player. They are both married to women- so if they were so into being "gay" you'd think they would stay "single". The fact is, there is no way to obtain "proof" if a person wont come out and say that they are gay or not. That would be the worst group ever, except maybe for Lars, but even then they would spend too much time fighting and attention-whoring to really make any good music.
